February is National Cancer Prevention Month, a chance to focus on reducing the risk of cancer through lifestyle, environmental changes, and early detection.
While some cancer risks are genetic, lifestyle plays a significant role:
Diet: A plant-based, fiber-rich diet can reduce risks of colorectal and breast cancer.
Exercise: Regular movement lowers the risk of many cancers, including breast, lung, and prostate cancer.
Early screenings: Regular mammograms, colonoscopies, and skin checks can save lives by detecting cancer early.

Often Black and Brown, LGBTQ, and non-male communities are lost in the shuffle when it comes to preventative screenings so be sure to ask your health care team about your screenings.
Your LivingScript: Schedule a check-up and your screenings (if needed) this month, even if you feel fine.
