February is Heart Month, an opportunity to reflect on how we can prevent cardiovascular diseases, the leading cause of death in the U.S. But it’s crucial to acknowledge that heart health doesn’t look the same for everyone.
Black and Latino populations are more likely to suffer from heart disease due to socioeconomic factors, stress, and limited access to care.
Women, especially Black and Indigenous women, face a higher risk for heart disease, often misdiagnosed or under-treated.

Heart Health Tips:
Move more: Try walking, dancing, yoga, or activities that feel like joy, not just exercise.
Eat plants: Aim for a heart-healthy diet full of fiber, leafy greens, and legumes.
Prioritize rest: Sleep is a cornerstone of cardiovascular health.
