March is Sleep Month, and it's time we recognize sleep as an essential pillar of health. Sleep isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity for physical health, mental clarity, and emotional balance.

The benefits of quality sleep:

  • Improved immune function

  • Better mood regulation

  • Reduced risk of chronic diseases (heart disease, diabetes, etc.)

However, many people struggle with sleep, especially due to stress, screen time, or underlying conditions. Finding help can be a challenge, and it’s worse for marginalized communities who often face:

  • Unequal access to healthcare for sleep disorders

  • Increased stress due to social inequities

  • Limited access to safe, quiet environments for rest

Sleep Tips for All:

  • Create a bedtime routine: Dim lights, avoid screens, and relax before sleep.

  • Stick to a schedule: Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day.

  • Mind your environment: Keep your room cool, dark, and quiet.
